Stop. Look. Listen.
That’s the sound of a building coming to life.
Crash. Bang. Wallop.
Stand in the right place and you can hear it.
Stand on the Corner.
That’s where the magic happens.
Don’t be shy. Just a little bit more…
Perfect. Now, you are standing on Tailors Corner.
Standing proud in the heart of central Leeds, Tailors Corner is a contemporary, but sympathetic refurbishment of one of the city’s many handsome red-brick buildings. Set over 7 floors and offering over 25,000 sq ft of design-led Grade A workspace, rebuilding the past and reinventing it for today.
Now live, the new visual identity for Tailors Corner is inspired by all of the above and we are exceptionally proud of our latest design collaboration with Boultbee Brooks Real Estate and Knight Frank.
Creating everything from the name of the building, to the visual identity, bespoke typeface and tone of voice and messaging, the work has been rolled out onto a shiny new website (which you can see here!) as well as a variety of marketing materials such as a brochure, hoarding and building wraps, social media promo and building signage (all of which will be launching on our site very very soon)!
Taking cues form the building’s heritage, the whole visual identity takes inspiration from J. Hepworth & Son, the state-of-the-art national menswear retailer (now Next). It’s called Tailors Corner in honour of its history. Established in 1908, remade 2020.
The visual identity needed to represent this statement - referencing the Hepworth’s past ambition for growth and development, but also recognising the building’s present - to do that we paired traditional with modern to creative a bold, dynamic identity that can be dialled up and down.
The bespoke typography is based on a number of Leeds Ordnance Survey maps dating from the earth twentieth century, literally referencing the previous tenants’ trade such as the rolls of the fabric with the ‘R’ and the sharp scissor cut edges in the typography. The bespoke typography has been paired with accompanying patterns that derive from the Hepworth’s fabric samples in which we digitalised and modernised.
If you’re based in Leeds keep looking up up up at Tailors Corner- located on Thirsk Row- as the building begins to change over the next few months!
