Disrupt! Design Manchester 18!

Here at Studio.Build we are massive fans of the guys behind Design Manchester. So it's always great to see what they have lined up. Design Manchester 18 launched this week (this years theme - Disrupt!), the event is hosted at various venues and places around the city and the Greater Manchester area. Runs 11th Oct — 21st October 2018.

We will be having a Studio.Build Away.Day trip to the conference on Friday Oct 19th. If you see us there, please do say hello!

As an aside- we are also pleased to have been invited to participate in a couple of the events, I Shout For The Fall and Transient Space, a bit more info about those two events below.

I Shout for The Fall.
A big thanks to John Rooney, senior teaching fellow at the University of Leeds, for inviting us to contribute by designing a response to words written by the eponymous Mark E Smith from The Fall.

Our submission— ‘Living Too Late’ was intentionally designed to be hard to read. But if you persevere you will get it, a bit like listening to The Fall. Other creatives involved in the exhibition include Malcolm Garrett, Alan Kitching, Instruct, Spin and Patrick Thomas.

Transient Space.
A projected gallery that explores the concepts of time, space and the culture of the transient screen. Recent research shows the average time people look at a work in a gallery is a median duration of ’17 Seconds’ and with this in mind we have briefed and incredible array of creatives to respond to this with a 17 second piece on the theme.

Taking the 17 second theme outlined in the brief we produced a rapid-fire blip animation. The piece contains descriptions of a number of our favourite pieces of art (see list below), alongside a range of emotions when viewing these pieces of art.
