{↑} Website design for Mooncolony. Big, bright, hero images contrast with hard-edged geometric typography and navigational elements.

{←} The Mooncolony ‘M’ brand-mark is designed as a responsive — not static — mark, able to mould itself to a myriad of applications and sizes.

{↑} Mooncolony ‘eclipse’ device, taken from the Mooncolony custom typeface ‘MC-Bold’. The eclipse is a subtle nod to the astronomically-influenced studio name.

{↑} Custom typeface ‘MC-Bold’ is designed as a bold contrast to the colourful, vibrant concept art. This strong typeface is a unique asset for the brand.
{→} Heavily contrasting-weight punctuation marks.

{↓} Mooncolony single-line lock-up.

{←} Ultra-bold custom numeral set.

{↑} Website design and build. Elements from the typeface are used as bold navigation devices and frames for the studio’s imagery throughout the site.

{←}{↓} The concept art can be framed inside these bold graphic shapes, or leap out giving the page depth and dynamism.

{↑} Website menu navigation page, showing hero images coupled with contrasting bold typography and navigational elements. The website is fully responsive across all devices.

{↑} Extensive brand guidelines and templates, here showing the extent of the stark black and white colour palette which offsets the studio’s wonderfully vibrant concept art. The guidelines ensure any third-party use of the Mooncolony branding is used in a consistent manner.

{↑}{↓}{→} Branded Mooncolony merchandise for events and for new staff, boldly utilising the stripped-back, black & white identity.

“We have been fans of Michael C. Place's work since his time at the Designers Republic. We were trying to find an opportunity to work with him, so when we decided to rebrand Mooncolony, we thought it would be the perfect project to collaborate on.
Our challenge to Studio.Build was to create a premium, modern brand that would stand out from our competitors. The result was a unique and bold geometric approach to the logotype and supporting visuals, complemented by a dynamic logo mark. Michael and the Studio.Build team did an amazing job with Mooncolony’s new ID and merchandise, and exceeded our expectations by designing a custom type.
The new ID has played a key part in expanding our reach, solidifying our position in the industry as one of the go-to 2D art studios.”
